Situated at the southern tip of Prakkulam Village in Kollam district, the picturesque location offers a breathtaking view of waterways fringed by lush mangroves. The DTPC offers a package for you to experience this incredible spot.

DTPC have 2 boat terminals in Prakkulam, Terminal 1 – Sambranikodi and Terminal 2 – Manalil. You can pick boats form any of the above mentioned location and will drop you at Sambranikodi Island. You can then wade through the designated areas and spend close to 40 minutes at the island. The boat will then you drop back at the boat jetty. Travelers can also engage themselves in fishing, collecting clams and exploring the fishing villages nearby.

Mary Land Island

Munroe Island

Munroe Island is located at the confluence of the Kallada River and Ashtamudi Lake. Munroe Island is known for its scenic backwaters, lush greenery, and rich cultural heritage. The island is named after Colonel John Munroe, a British resident of the erstwhile princely state of Travancore. Munroe is credited with building canals that connected various backwater districts.

Arinalloor Mangroves

Sree Kumaramanagalam Temple

Here in 1903 Sree Narayana Guru placed an idol.In 1921 Prakkulam Prameyam (Perinad sammelanam) was organized here by Sree Narayana guru to propagate the message that anyone from any caste or religion has full freedom to join SNDP. Moorkoth Kumaran, Sahodaran Ayyappan, Mahakavi Kumaranashaan, Mannath Padhmanabhan, Ayyankali, & Thangal Kunju Musiliar are part of the organizing committee.

Valiyamadam Temple

It is believed to be a place of refuge for the King Marthanda Verma during his exile after war with the Dutch army in 1741 AD.This temple is also famous for being the place where Sree Narayana guru used to meditate and make preaching.

St.Elizabeth's Church

This is one of the few ancient churches under Kollam Diocese which is the first Diocese established in India. Ie was established in the year 1870 and blessed in 1873.
